Meadows Park residents celebrate 68 years of marriage

Pam and Colin’s love story is a beautiful testament to enduring romance and companionship, recently celebrated at Meadows Park in Louth, Lincolnshire. Their bond has roots that stretch back an astonishing 75 years, to a dance studio in Leigh-on-Sea.

Pam and Colin share a love story spanning 75 years

Pam remembers how dancing was an essential skill for everyone at that time. From their very first class, Colin became her permanent partner, and she has tenderly joked that she could never dance with anyone else. Their shared passion for dance blossomed over four delightful years, leading them to a pivotal moment when they ventured out to the cinema for their first official date.
Colin, ever the gentleman, would borrow his father’s car to take Pam for scenic drives, stealing sweet moments of affection by the roadside. His heartfelt devotion was clear; he was content to wait until Pam was ready to embrace their budding romantic journey.

Meadows Park celebrates a remarkable marriage milestone

With two years of engagement under their belts, the couple exchanged vows on 31st August, 1957, at St Clements Church—an intentional nod to Colin’s own parents’ wedding day. They embarked on life together with a shared vision of their future, working tirelessly to create a loving home while raising their two beloved children, Robert and Sally.
Their journey has since taken them across the pond and back, thanks to Colin’s government role. Despite life’s travels, they eventually settled in Surrey, nurturing a thriving family and achieving incredible milestones together.
Now, as Pam and Colin prepare to celebrate 68 years of marriage, their enduring love and unwavering support for one another set a glowing example for all. As they now proudly reside at Meadows Park, the team members and fellow residents join in wishing this remarkable couple many more years of marital bliss.
